The board of education set criteria and a timeline for the determining the new boundaries for Metea Valley High School as well as the other high schools in the Indian Prairie School District 204. The administration will move forward with drafting a boundary proposal that will be distributed to the community on February 12th.
Community members can submit specific boundary plans or proposal elements to Deputy Superintendant Dr. Kathryn Birkett by Noon on Thursday, February 7th at

The board has directed the administration to develop a plan that meets the following criteria:
1. Balances enrollment with attention to school capacities providing room for growth.
2. Maximizes academic strength of our three high schools and seven middle schools.
3. Minimizes the following:
- Transportation time and costs
- Non-contiguous boundaries
- Splits that any one student would experience
There are several important upcoming dates:
February 7th: end of the time period to send specific boundary proposals to Deputy Superintendant Dr. Kathryn Birkett
February 12th: Administration to distribute its boundary recommendations through 204 E-News, posted on the district’s website (we will also post it on the 204update.com website).
February 12th – 16th: Time period for the community to submit written electronic feedback on the proposed boundary recommendations. Feedback needs to be received by noon on February 16th.
February 19th: Special board meeting regarding the administration’s boundary recommendation with additional opportunity for public comment.
